Strengthen dignity for struggling mums

The journey of motherhood is not easy: made even more difficult by the demands of providing for a family amidst rising costs of living. These challenges can leave our mothers and children increasingly vulnerable and at risk of not achieving their full potential.

Your tax-deductible donation will help Catholic Care’s Project Elizabeth support mums in need of pregnancy and parenting support and provide practical assistance and emotional comfort.

$75
can provide friendship and self-care support through a mums’ group.
can provide financial counselling or a session on parenting and living skills, education, and employment support.

can provide trauma counselling for families in grief, bereaved from the loss of a child.

Support mothers in their loving role to raise God’s children.

Together, we can empower mothers, strengthen families, and create brighter tomorrows.

“I love being a mum. I love my kids.”

Holly* describes her experience with motherhood as ‘bittersweet.’ She had her first two children very young, in a relationship marked by abuse. For their stability and safety, they were placed in foster care resulting in trauma, anxiety, and loss of confidence for Holly.

“It was the hardest, and saddest time of my life, loving and wanting them so much, but having to do what was best for them, was very difficult.”

It took a kind heart, a listening ear, and a reliable shoulder for Holly to recover, capable of parenting with confidence, joy, and stability. A heartwarming transformation made possible by the practical and emotional parenting support she received from Catholic Care’s Project Elizabeth, with help from generous Christians like you.

Holly is happier and a more confident mum to her third child Levi:

“I love watching Levi grow. Her everyday development makes me think, ‘She’s such a good little girl – and I did that’.”

Mothers have a special place in our hearts. They nurture the children who will grow up to be the future stewards of our world. We need only to look towards the Blessed Virgin Mary to realise both the joy and the ultimate sacrifice of being a mother.

With the rising cost of living and increased economic hardship, many mothers in our community struggle to provide for their families.

Now, more than ever, we are called to be the Good Samaritan. To reach out with a loving hand so struggling mothers can live up to the full measure of their dignity and build a strong family life.

Thank you for your acts of charity, mercy, and love.
