About the role
The Diocese of Parramatta’s Mission Enhancement Team is seeking a dynamic leader to advance youth and young adult ministry as part of Catholic Youth Parramatta’s expanding mission. This position is fulltime temporary until August 2025.
The Mission Enhancement Team (MET) is a supportive and connected team of professionals that animate the bishop’s vision for the pastoral life and the priorities set out in the Diocesan Pastoral Plan – Behold I Am With You Always. The Team provides quality formation, training, accompaniment, supportive networks, strategic planning and celebrations/events.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative team dedicated to realising Bishop Vincent Long’s vision, in alignment with the Diocese Pastoral Plan, providing high-quality formation, training, accompaniment, strategic planning, networks of support, and significant local and diocesan events aimed at empowering and engaging youth in the life of the Church. You will work closely with the CYP team and the whole of MET across various focus areas, including families, parish leaders, their communities, and schools-based ministry.
The role focuses on managing and enhancing Catholic Youth Parramatta; a ministry dedicated to fostering the personal, spiritual, and ministerial growth of young people in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains.

Specifically, as the successful candidate you will ideally meet the following Essential Requirements:
- Foster and develop young people in personal, spiritual and ministerial growth, empowering them in the life and mission of the Catholic faith as disciples of Jesus Christ in the world
- Enhance youth ministry capacity in faith communities by identifying local needs and ensuring that comprehensive youth ministry is provided, promoted and supported with high quality training and resources
- Clearly articulate the dynamic goals of Catholic Youth Parramatta through all elements of formation, training, events and communications
- Promote and support ecclesial identity and participation in international and national events that meet the priorities, needs, and vision for young people in the Diocese
- Manage diocesan and local events that foster unity, formation and mission including the comprehensive LIFTED program
- Ensure that all programs have assessed and completed appropriate risk mitigation and safeguarding practices
- Create engaging video content for The Well that appeals to students, youth and young adults and supports their ministry and/or lives
- Re-establish and support a Diocesan Youth Council, integrating it with representation across the Deanery Pastoral Councils
- Continually evaluate programs and initiatives, seeking feedback and ensuring that they meet the evolving needs of young people
- Lead any staff and volunteers of Catholic Youth Parramatta
- Manage and contribute content to the various communication channels of Catholic Youth Parramatta (website, social media accounts, EDMs)
- Work with, and assist newly emerging diocesan structures, ensuring an ongoing discernment of the priorities for diocesan youth ministry
