About the role
The Diocese of Parramatta’s Mission Enhancement Team (MET) is seeking dynamic leaders to advance youth and young adult ministry as part of Catholic Youth Parramatta’s expanding mission on a 12-month fixed term contract.
Successful candidates will join a collaborative team dedicated to realising Bishop Vincent’s vision for the Diocese’s pastoral life and in alignment with the Diocese Pastoral Plan. This includes providing high-quality formation, training, accompaniment, strategic planning, supportive networks, and organising events.
You will work closely with team members across various focus areas, including families, parish leaders, their communities, and an expanding role in schools-based ministry. Catholic Youth Parramatta currently reaches thousands of young people each year.
About you
A Catholic Youth Facilitator is instrumental in nurturing the spiritual and personal growth of young people within the Church. They lead faith formation by developing and implementing programs that deepen young people’s understanding and practice of the Catholic faith.
They foster youth engagement by encouraging participation in parish activities and helping them build leadership skills. By organising events and activities, they create a supportive and connected community for young people.
The Facilitator provides pastoral support, offering guidance to youth facing personal or spiritual challenges and serving as a mentor. They collaborate with families, parish staff, and community members to ensure that programs align with broader parish and diocesan goals.
In addition, they manage and evaluate youth ministry initiatives, ensuring they meet the needs of young people and adhere to Church teachings. They also utilise technology creatively to enhance faith-sharing and program delivery.
About you:

Specifically, as the successful candidate you will ideally meet the following Essential Requirements:
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends as necessary, with flexibility to offset during the weekday.
- Strong personal commitment to the Catholic mission and values;
- Passion for life in faith, especially in the area of formation for mission;
- Completed or currently enrolled in tertiary education in a related field;
- Current Working with Children Check;
- Drivers License;
- At least three years relevant experience in a comparable role (e.g. education/ministry);
- Demonstrated experience in supporting and mentoring leaders in a church context;
- Fluent in Microsoft Office suite applications;
- Access to a reliable vehicle and willingness to travel to parishes;
- Creativity in planning and sharing your ideas with others;
- Ability to utilise technology innovatively to share the faith;
- Project management and strategic planning skills;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Professional manner and presentation;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others;
- Ability to operate with absolute discretion and to maintain confidentiality;
- Ability to take initiative and work with limited supervision;
- Attention to detail and a well-ordered approach to work;
- Good time management and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks;
