About the role

Are you an experienced property professional looking for a role where your technical expertise meets a meaningful mission? The Diocese is seeking a Facilities and Contract Manager to lead the strategic management and operational excellence of our land and built assets.

This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for ensuring our property portfolio remains compliant, sustainable, and fit for purpose to support our community and liturgical life.

As the Facilities and Contract Manager, you will oversee the full lifecycle of a diverse portfolio of freehold and leasehold assets. You will balance commercial acumen with a pastoral heart, ensuring that our buildings—from historic parishes to modern administrative centre’s—are managed with the highest standards of stewardship.

Key Strategic Pillars

1. Strategic Stewardship & Governance

  • Develop and optimise portfolio asset management strategies (SAMP) and maintenance cost plans.
  • Ensure all land and buildings meet regulatory standards for safety, accessibility, and environmental compliance.
  • Implement and improve technology systems to support property and facilities governance.

2. Operational Excellence & Maintenance

  • Oversee day-to-day operations across a multi-site environment, ensuring assets are safe and well-maintained.
  • Develop preventative and reactive maintenance programs, managing both direct and indirect service providers.
  • Coordinate essential building services including security, waste, and grounds maintenance.

3. Contract, Vendor & Financial Management

  • Lead end-to-end procurement and contract management for service agreements and capital projects.
  • Forecast and manage Opex and Capex budgets, identifying opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Prepare business cases for asset renewals, upgrades, and strategic capital works.

4. Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead and coach a high-performance team of internal staff and external contractors.
  • Provide professional advice to Parish Priests and internal agencies on property issues and maintenance plans.
  • Foster a culture of cooperation with tenants, occupiers, and regulatory bodies.

About you

You are a proactive, solutions-focused leader who thrives in complex environments. You possess the “lateral thinking” required to manage aging assets and the interpersonal skills to engage with everyone from corporate vendors to parish volunteers.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Tertiary degree in Engineering, Building Services, Facilities Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 5+ years in a similar leadership role managing multi-site facilities and diverse teams.
  • Technical Savvy: Proven track record in asset lifecycle planning, financial forecasting, and meticulous record-keeping.
  • Mission Alignment: Active support for the ethos and values of the Catholic Church and a commitment to high ethical standards.
  • Compliance: Valid Driver’s Licence and willingness to undergo a Working with Children Check (Employee).
