About the role

The Diocese of Parramatta is seeking an experienced Risk & Compliance Facilitator for a part-time, 6-month contract (with the possibility of extension). In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and monitoring risk controls, ensuring adherence to industry standards, and cultivating a proactive risk management culture. You will collaborate with stakeholders across the Diocese to maintain compliance with relevant laws and regulations, playing a key part in creating a safe and compliant environment for our staff, volunteers, parishes, and the broader community we serve.

About you

As a candidate for this role, you bring 3-5 years of experience in Risk, Compliance, and/or auditing. You are a highly organised and detail-oriented professional with a proven track record. You possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of relevant regulations and industry standards. You are a proactive problem-solver with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Management:

  • Assist in the identification, assessment, and reporting of risks to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of risk management strategies, ensuring effective mitigation of operational, financial, and compliance risks.
  • Provide advice and guidance on risk exposure, including emerging risks and industry trends.

Compliance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Monitor compliance with internal policies, procedures, and external regulatory requirements, ensuring timely reporting to senior management.
  • Conduct regular reviews of internal compliance controls, identify areas for improvement, and support corrective actions.
  • Ensure that necessary compliance documentation is properly maintained and updated, such as licenses, certifications, and audit trails.

Projects and Reviews:

  • Provide support in assisting with risk and compliance reviews, ensuring that compliance gaps are identified and rectified.
  • Participate in risk assessments to ensure that processes align with best practice and regulatory standards.

Training and Awareness:

  • Support the design and delivery of training programs and presentations for employees on risk management and compliance-related matters.
  • Promote a culture of compliance within the organization by encouraging adherence to policies and regulations.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare risk related reports
  • Maintain accurate records for internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification and/or significant demonstrated experience in Audit, Risk, Compliance, Business and/or other related discipline.

• Be willing to complete additional employment screening, including a Working with Children Check, as required by the Diocese.
