Alpha is an opportunity to explore life and the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment.
The Diocese of Parramatta is hosting Alpha Online beginning on Monday 1st June at 7.30pm. Come along to explore life, faith and meaning.
WHY ALPHA?
Alpha is for anyone who’s curious to explore the big questions of life, faith and meaning. The talks are designed to encourage conversation and explore the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment.
Typically run over eleven weeks, no two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: welcome, a short talk and a discussion where you can share your thoughts.
MAKE YOURSELF COMFORTABLE
Even though we are not physically together, you are welcome to make yourself comfortable during Alpha. Prepare yourself a nice beverage and some snacks as we share in conversation.
THEN A TALK
The talks in the Alpha series are designed to encourage participants to have a conversation about their faith. The video talks are about twenty minutes long, exploring and unpacking issues of faith and the basics of Christianity. Most importantly, they raise questions for participants to think about.
FOLLOWED BY DISCUSSION
Group discussion is the most important part of an Alpha session, cultivating the bonds that were formed at mealtimes and over each session. Participants are given the chance to share their thoughts and ideas with their small group in a guided discussion on the topic of the week. This is an opportunity to share together and learn from each other’s thoughts and experiences, gaining new perspectives of our identity as a faith community.
