Johanna*, 22-year-old mother who escaped from domestic violence, thanks to your support.
As the coordinator of this homelessness ministry for disadvantaged young women aged 16 to 25, I am blessed to experience how your compassionate generosity helps at-risk mothers get back on their feet.
There’s Johanna – whose abusive partner kicked her out of their house last Christmas Day – and is now building a new future with her two children… I’m so pleased that this year, they finally have a chance to truly enjoy a joyous and peaceful festive season.
And Sophia* – a young mother who left her violent partner and a life of couch surfing behind – who’s gained a new outlook on life and is planning to study and become a midwife.
Thanks to you, both Johanna and Sophia are steadily recovering and healing from the wounds of abuse, hardship, and trauma. And they have taken a step further and started to plan and work towards their goals. They are gaining practical parenting and independent living skills and creating positive relationships and memories with their children. They are working towards improving their education and gaining employment.
It’s because of your compassion and help that these young mothers are taking life-changing steps in their journey to a new beginning for their families.

Thanks to everyone who has donated. Your support means the world for the young mothers in our care, enabling us to do the work we are passionate about and provide the support these vulnerable families need. We couldn’t do that without your help.
When the young women first come to us, many of them are fearful… But over time, we demonstrate through our words and actions that we are not here to judge them. We’re here to support them in any way.
Some of the transformations we’ve seen have been a lot of growth in self-confidence and self-worth… While this may seem small to some, it means the world to them.
“I have a lot of hope for my future now, thanks to everything that Catholic Care is providing. I’m a totally different person. I don’t really recognise the old me,” said Johanna.
