We are committed to facilitating the growth of young leaders for ministry and mission in the Church and in the world. If you work or volunteer as a leader who serves the youth and young adults in your church community, meeting other people in similar roles will give you an opportunity to share your experience, exchange ideas, and gain insights into effective strategies for engaging young people.
We want to learn from each other’s successes and challenges and help leaders enhance their skills and broaden their perspectives.
Building a network of youth ministry leaders also creates a supportive environment where you are free to seek advice, share resources, and find encouragement. We know leadership can be a tough gig, and building a strong network can help reduce the isolation and burnout come from a spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically demanding role!

Duc In Altum: A Pathway for Leadership in Youth Ministry
The Diocese of Parramatta’s ‘Duc In Altum’ youth ministry leadership program is inspired by Bishop Vincent’s motto from Luke 5:4. The Latin translation is “put out into the deep”. These are the words that Jesus said to Peter at their first encounter, which prompted Peter to go into deep water and lower his net for a catch.
This leadership pathway is intentionally designed to provide opportunities for accompaniment and encounter over one year, leading to a commissioning World Youth Day Parramatta on the Feast Day of Christ The King.
The program is designed for people aged 16 years and over.
Program goals
- enhance leadership and local ministry capacity through training and accompaniment
- facilitate connections between young people that grows an authentic Christ-centred community
- provide space and formation that encourages a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and an understanding of mission in today’s context.
