Pastoral Planning Plenary Council Reflection Session

November 5, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Reignite the Flame of Plenary Council | Reflection & Action Session

Dear Friend in Faith,

Meet our Plenary Delegates | Hear the Good News as Plenary comes to life in our Diocese | Share Suggested Actions to Plenary Proposals

You are warmly invited to attend the Reignite the Flame of Plenary Council Reflection & Action Session | Prayerful and Eucharistic Theme being held on Thursday, 5th November from 11.00 am to 12.30 pm via ZOOM.

During this session we will meet two of our Plenary Council delegates: Mrs Wendy Goonan (Northern Deanery Pastoral Council Chair) and Fr Chris de Souza (Episcopal Vicar and Harris Park Parish Priest).

We will also be joined by some diocesan members with particular expertise and experience in the Prayerful and Eucharistic theme and they will share some of the good news happening around the Prayerful and Eucharistic Theme in our diocese.

We will engage in a focused reflection leading to suggested actions centred on one of the following topics, each with its accompanying prioritised question.

Community: How can we develop as a prayerful and Eucharistic community that is united in Christ while valuing and celebrating diverse spiritualities, customs and authentic liturgical practice?
Participation: How can we best encourage full, conscious and active participation in the liturgical and prayerful life of the Church community?
Formation: How do we walk together as a pilgrim Church that effectively accompanies, ministers to and forms people, in light of secular and religious practice, as a community of Christ’s disciples?
Mission: How can our practice of being prayerful and Eucharistic draw us and others to Christ?

Each of these topic areas is taken directly from the Prayerful and Eucharistic Writing Paper https://plenarycouncil.catholic.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/PC2020-thematic-papers-3.pdf. There are a series of concrete proposals listed under each topic area. Our suggested actions and wisdom are offered for both the local and national process. All recommendations will be given to our Deanery and Diocesan Pastoral Councils for action.

To prepare for this session, please familiarise yourself with the Prayerful and Eucharistic Writing Paper (linked above), and as a start, a summary is attached to this email.

At prayer, and in a special way within the Eucharist, we encounter Jesus Christ in our hearts. The heart is the place of truth, of encounter, of decision, and thus a place of listening and discernment.
