Summary of content: The Women in Matthew Genealogy
These are the women who teach us to lean into the unknown of God’s mission, struggling to survive with so much stacked against them. Tamar who must use deception to establish a place for herself in the family of the patriarch Judah. Rahab, the foreigner, left with nothing after her Israelite husband dies and who must leave her native home to go to the land of the Canaanites. Ruth, grandmother to King David, serves as a model of faith-filled leadership for God’s people. Uriah’s wife, Bathsheba, taken by King David while her husband was still living. And little Mary of Nazareth who had the courage, despite her youth, to say yes to God’s own messenger. Who are these women? Why are they important? And how did God work God’s plan through them to bring about the salvation of the world?
Join us for three sessions that will challenge and provoke you and leave you wondering, pondering and “quandaring” about our God who works in mysterious ways.
