24 May 2025 will mark the 10-Year Anniversary of Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’ – On Care for Our Common Home. The Australian Cardijn Institute (ACI) and the Diocese of Parramatta’s Mission Enhancement Team (MET) invite you to a webinar with Sebastian Salaske-Lentern and Sue Martin, who will reflect on the ecological journey that Francis has taken us on in the past ten years.

Have we made enough progress in tackling the triple planetary crisis of climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss, or is it time to despair? What can give us hope for the path ahead in this Jubilee Year and beyond?

Please register above and join us on Thursday 8 May at 7pm – 8pm AEST online.

Speakers:

Sebastian Salaske-Lentern lives and works on Darug Country. He is the Peace, Justice & Ecology Coordinator for the Diocese of Parramatta, a member of the Mission Enhancement Team (MET), and chair of the Diocesan Laudato Si’ Action Team. He holds a doctorate in theology from the University of Muenster in Germany, and has previously worked, taught and volunteered in academic, church and community contexts. Sebastian is passionate about engaging faith communities in social and environmental justice, and taking Gospel-inspired, collaborative action for people and planet.

Sue Martin also lives and works on Darug Country. She is an agricultural scientist by training, currently working in the leadership team at Jesuit Ignatian Spirituality Australia (JISA), with deep connections to Catholic Earthcare Australia. In the Diocese of Parramatta, Sue advocates for Country and reconciliation. She is part of St Madeleine’s Parish Kenthurst and a member of the Diocesan Laudato Si’ Action Team. Sue is passionate about connecting love of the environment with her faith, working to grow a green heart in the church, and caring for our common home in a spirit of “bala ga lili” (Yolŋu for giving and taking, co-creating balance through relationships of reciprocity and responsibility).
