Family: the heart of the Church

I thank God that many families, which are far from considering themselves perfect, live in love, fulfil their calling and keep moving forward, even if they fall many times along the way…there is no stereotype of the ideal family, but rather a challenging mosaic made up of many different realities, with all their joys, hopes and problems.

Pope Francis, Amoris Laetitia (The Joy of Love), 57.

Family: the Heart of our Church!

Families come in all shapes and sizes. In our Diocese of Parramatta, we are blessed to have families from many different cultural and language backgrounds. Our Church is not buildings, but people. Together, the families of our Diocese make up the Church!

With our family hub, we hope to reach all families around the Diocese. Here you’ll find interesting and interactive resources you can use and share with your family: documents from Pope Francis, prayer materials, videos, articles, social media tiles, even a place to share your own stories of love and kindness within your family.

This hub is also where you'll find important information about how the Church is celebrating the family, and about the World Meeting of Families, which will be held in Rome in June 2022.

Family members show love for one another in a diverse range of ways. How do you show the members of your family that they’re loved and valued? Maybe it’s through a smile, a kind word, helping them out with jobs, or doing unexpected little acts of kindness? Whatever you do, we’d love to hear from you!
