In 2023, the Diocese of Parramatta were blessed with a new chaplain for the Sri Lankan Catholic Community, which has grown over recent years and now numbers more than 2000 families across Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains.
Special masses are held in Tamil, bringing together families and individuals for worship in their native languages, thus preserving their cultural identity while deepening their faith.
Key feast days celebrated by the Sri Lankan Catholic community include the feast of Saint Joseph Vaz in January, patron saint of Sri Lanka.
