About the role
St Monica’s Catholic Church, Richmond Parish, is seeking a part-time warm, organised, and highly capable Parish Secretary to support the pastoral and administrative life of the parish.
This is a key front‑of‑house role, providing professional administrative and customer service support to the Parish Priest while serving as the first point of contact for parishioners, families, and visitors.
About the Role
The Parish Secretary plays an important role in ensuring the smooth daily operation of the parish office through effective administration, communication, record keeping, and coordination of parish activities. The role supports the parish community with sensitivity, discretion, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a welcoming first point of contact for parishioners, visitors, and external enquiries
- Manage parish office administration, correspondence, calendars, and bookings
- Maintain parish records, databases, and sacramental registers in accordance with privacy requirements
- Prepare weekly parish bulletins and support parish communications
- Assist with parish financial administration, including receipting and office procurement
- Provide administrative support for liturgies, sacramental programs, and parish events
- Work in accordance with safeguarding, privacy, and workplace health and safety requirements
About you
You will bring:
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and discretion when handling confidential information
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital systems (Word, Excel, email; Canva desirable)
- A respectful, welcoming, and professional manner aligned with parish values
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively with clergy, staff, and volunteers
Experience in an administrative or office coordination role is essential; experience in a parish, school, or community organisation is highly regarded.
