The Missionary Sisters of the Society of Mary (SMSM) are a religious congregation of women who are consecrated to God by the vows of chastity, poverty and obedience and who devote their lives to the service of the mission of Christ, in the spirit of Mary, throughout the world. Pioneered to Oceania by a French lay-woman, Francoise Perroton in 1845 and introduced to Sydney, Australia, in 1858 from France by Sisters Marie de la Pitie, de la Ste Esperance and de la Misericorde. Their headquarters are in Rome Italy and the regional headquarters are in Noumea, New Caledonia.
