Your impact
Fr Alan Layt has served the people of the Diocese of Parramatta for nearly 30 years, most recently as Parish Priest of St Aidan’s, Rooty Hill, for 14 years. His ministry has taken him through ten parishes in his first 15 years, touching countless lives along the way.
After decades of pastoral care, preaching, and bringing people closer to Christ, Fr Alan recently stepped back from the heavy administrative duties of running a parish. He now serves in “lesser duties” – supply Masses, pastoral visits, and spending more time face-to-face with parishioners – while receiving care and support from the Clergy Support Foundation.
“I’d like to say thanks to everybody who’s contributed to the Clergy Support Foundation. The Church is a family, the Diocese is a family. Your support really does bring home the fact that this is a family caring for its elderly people.
“Jesus has given so much to you – and I was part of that. You’re really being asked to support His work, because it doesn’t end when a priest retires.
“The priesthood isn’t a profession you can turn off – you are a priest for life. Your support allows us to live that vocation to the end.
“Thank you very much for everything that you’ve done. And I would ask the Almighty God to bless you and keep you in His care.”
