Mission

Catholicism extends beyond a set of beliefs; it encompasses a way of life that flows into every aspect of a person’s existence. We are called to live according to the teachings of Jesus Christ, and to reflect God’s love, compassion, justice, forgiveness, and humility each day.

The Diocese’s Mission Enhancement Team (MET) provides Diocesan-wide leadership in accompaniment and resourcing for Catholic formation, training and encounter – choosing to be “where people are” in sharing the message of the Gospel with the contemporary world.

Reaching out to families, young people, adults and vulnerable communities, the Mission team hopes to enhance our participation in God’s mission for our world.

Children

Our mission team empowers children of all ages on their faith journey, providing a vibrant Children’s Liturgy program for younger children up to LIFTED Junior, a program specifically designed for students in Years 5 and 6.

The team offer engaging programs that prepare children to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation (First Confession), First Holy Communion, and Confirmation.

Inclusivity is a core value, and our team ensures all children have the opportunity to participate in the Sacraments through additional support for those with additional needs.

Youth

Our high-school-aged LIFTED programs offer engaging activities, discussions, and events that will help you explore your beliefs in a supportive environment, empowering you to become a leader and role model for others.

Our LIFTED Leaders program supports our emerging student leaders in Years 11 and 12 from the beginning of their leadership journey with a Commissioning Mass, through to their final weeks with Parish-based HSC Masses and blessings.

Leaders have the opportunity to engage with other young people across the Diocese, as well as with Diocesan and Catholic Schools leaders.

We look forward to welcoming you to LIFTED!

Young Adults

Young adults (18-35) seeking a vibrant Catholic community will find a home in LIFTED! Deepen your faith with retreats, theology discussions, and Holy Hours for Vocations. Unleash your spirit at LIFTED Sports Day or join the LIFTED Band.

Connect with peers at our LIFTED events, inspiring gatherings for young women and those in their 20s, 30s and 40s, and our Duc in Altum series for youth ministry leaders.

Prepare for the future with our pre-marriage preparation courses for engaged couples and Natural Family Planning information sessions.

LIFTED: your launchpad for a fulfilling and connected Catholic life!

Parents and families

The Diocese is fortunate to have families of all shapes and sizes, representing diverse cultures, languages and generations.

Our team works closely with local parish communities to provide spaces for families to gather and develop strong relationships in faith, allowing them to feel like valued and integral members of their communities.

Adults

Adults seeking a fulfilling faith journey can explore a variety of programs to deepen their understanding of faith and support their community.

Learn about how you can be involved in the liturgy through our Ministry Course or our variety of music workshops to enhance the sacredness of our worship.

Those looking to learn more are welcomed to our FaithLIFE Short Courses in Scripture, Theology, Spirituality or Ministry, as well as thematic Scripture evenings on key Church celebrations. Join with others as you hear from experts with meaningful stories to share and practical tips for the everyday.

Vulnerable Communities

The Diocese of Parramatta offers various programs to connect with vulnerable communities, from Table Talks on social issues to the Parramatta Street Feast celebrating multiculturalism, Ministry to the Sick & Dying outreach, and environmental stewardship through the Season of Creation Mass and Retreat.

We also advocate for, raise awareness and resource national initiatives such as Harmony Week (March), National Reconciliation Week (June), NAIDOC Week (July) and Homelessness Week (August).

Diocesan Engagement

From ordinations to the diaconate or priesthood to welcoming those new to the Catholic faith to honouring our married couples, our team provides strong support for a variety of initiatives organised by the Bishop to celebrate the vibrancy and spirituality of our Diocesan community.

These events are often open to all members of the faithful in our Diocese, so come along and share in the celebration.
