The HSC period can be overwhelming, but it’s also a time to lean into faith, seek peace through prayer, and trust in God’s guidance. The Diocese of Parramatta invites students, families, and parish communities to lift up HSC students in prayer – asking for calm, clarity, and courage through this important chapter of their journey.
A Prayer for HSC students
Lord, You have loved me into life and I thank You.
In this exam period, give me a calm heart and quiet confidence in the knowledge that You hold me in the palm of Your hand.
Bless me with a keen understanding and a retentive memory.
Give me the ability to grasp things correctly, and express myself clearly.
Help me look beyond this time of exams and see clearly whatever You are calling me to be in life.
Show me my gifts and talents and help me to have the courage to use them to love others, to give You glory and to leave this world a better place.
Amen.
Whether you’re a student preparing for your next exam, a parent walking alongside your child, or a teacher offering guidance, this prayer offers a moment of stillness and perspective. It reminds us that our identity and worth come not from results, but from God’s love.
A Parish Prayer for HSC students
Heavenly Father, we bring before You our HSC students.
Give them the gifts of wisdom, right judgment, knowledge and courage.
Bless them with calm hearts and clarity of mind as they sit for their exams.
May they be affirmed in their efforts and may they know that You are there with them.
We pray that they will stay calm under pressure and work to the best of their ability.
May they feel Your loving presence in their lives, now and always,
and may they be strengthened by the prayerful support of us,
their parish community.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit
now and forever.

Annual HSC Masses
Each year, parishes around the diocese, supported by Catholic Youth Parramatta, hold a HSC Mass to bring grace and peace amid the stress of this significant period for Year 12 students. These special celebrations are open to all and are usually held in late September or early October, just before the HSC exams begin. They are a time for students to be blessed, supported by their families and parish communities, and reminded that their efforts are not carried alone.
