Your support brings comfort and care to our ageing priests
Thanks to your faithful generosity as a regular giver to the Clergy Support Foundation, our retired and unwell priests continue to receive the care, dignity, and love they deserve. Your ongoing support ensures they are never alone or forgotten but honoured for the lifetime of service they have given to Christ and His people.
Fr Alan Layt has served the people of the Diocese of Parramatta for nearly 30 years, including 14 years as Parish Priest of St Aidan’s, Rooty Hill. After decades of pastoral care and preaching, touching countless lives through his spiritual guidance, he recently stepped back from parish administration.
Now, with your help, and the support of our Clergy Health and Wellbeing team, Fr Alan is living at James Dixon House and continues serving through supply Masses, pastoral visits, and more one-on-one time with parishioners.
“I’d like to say thanks to everybody who’s contributed to the Clergy Support Foundation. The Church is a family, the Diocese is a family. Your support really does bring home the fact that this is a family caring for its elderly people.
“Jesus has given so much to you – and I was part of that. You’re really being asked to support His work, because it doesn’t end when a priest retires.
“The priesthood isn’t a profession you can turn off – you are a priest for life. Your support allows us to live that vocation to the end.
“Thank you very much for everything that you’ve done. And I would ask the Almighty God to bless you and keep you in His care.”
