Support homeless mothers and their children in crisis

Christmas is a season filled with joy and anticipation — but for some families, like Johanna’s, it’s a time of fear, uncertainty, and survival. Johanna was 38 weeks pregnant when her abusive partner kicked her and their son Charlie out of their house. It was Christmas Day.

Your tax-deductible donation will help Catholic Care Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains’ Houses to Homes program to provide vulnerable women in crisis with safe shelter, nourishing food, and support to build a better future for their family.

$75

“Let all that you do be done in love.” – 1 Corinthians 16:14

“I’ve achieved more in the past five months with Catholic Care than I have in my whole life. I feel like there is a good future for my family and me.”

Johanna*

Earlier this year Johanna found herself emotionally depleted and struggling to find hope. Heavily pregnant and with a young son, she became homeless after her abusive partner kicked her out of the house on Christmas Day.

But with support from our faith community, the young mum finally found a place to call home for her son and newborn daughter through Catholic Care Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains’ Houses to Homes program.

This was a new beginning for their family – the turning point from a life of moving from place to place.

Johanna didn’t just find a home, she is being supported to gain important life skills, education, training, and employment – to build a better future.

The horror of domestic, family, and sexual violence, compounded by the rising cost of living, is pushing mothers and their children into homelessness.

They need our compassionate support at this traumatic time in their lives. In this season of Advent and giving, you can help provide homeless mothers and their children with a new beginning, supporting them to rebuild a strong family life and a hopeful future.

Your kind-hearted Christmas gift will help Catholic Care Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains to continue its Houses to Homes ministry, to provide safe transitional housing to families in hardship, and offer the practical and emotional support and opportunities they need to live life to the full.

Thank you for your loving kindness. May your blessings be multiplied this Christmas and always.
