Background
The African Mass was initiated by African Catholics in 2017 with the intent to bring together African communities from different cultural backgrounds to worship.
With the growing rate of African Migrants in the Diocese of Parramatta, we have now resolved to hold the African Mass with an initial objective of bringing African Catholics and friends in the dioceses together, and a broader objective of strengthening the bond between African Catholic communities through the creation of targeted social, health, and welfare programs that achieve set objectives.
The last time we had the African Mass was in 2025, with the Vicar General, Rev Luis Fernando Montano, as the main celebrant, and it was a huge success. It created a sense of belonging for African Catholics and was a great display of Unity in diversity. This is the second time we are celebrating the African Mass since the COVID-19 Pandemic.
