Join The Good Shepherd Parish on the eve of the Solemnity of Saint Francis, Saturday 3rd October, for a Vigil Mass and the Transitus of St Francis of Assisi, a traditional Franciscan prayer service to commemorate the peaceful death of St. Francis of Assisi and his joyful passage into eternal life.

7:30pm | Transitus of St Francis of Assisi, followed by light refreshments.

All are invited to join The Good Shepherd Plumpton Parish for St Francis Week, celebrating the Solemnity of St Francis of Assisi, the parish’s patron Saint, during this special Jubilee Year of St Francis, commemorating the 800th anniversary of his death.

From 3–10 October, all the faithful are welcome to encounter the enduring legacy of the “Poverello of Assisi” by walking in his footsteps — embracing simplicity, caring for the poor and creation, and becoming instruments of peace in our world.

Proclaimed by Pope Leo XIV, this special Franciscan Jubilee Year offers the opportunity to receive a plenary indulgence during designated Franciscan celebrations and pilgrimages to places connected to St Francis, including The Good Shepherd parish during St Francis Week.

Throughout this octave-long celebration, there will be many opportunities to receive Holy Communion and the Sacrament of Reconciliation, as well as to participate in the veneration of a first-class relic of St Francis of Assisi.
